Overview

Merobact SM 1.5 addresses key gaps in current approaches to multidrug-resistant gram-negative infections. By combining meropenem's cell-wall-active carbapenem backbone with sulbactam's beta-lactamase inhibition and independent anti-Acinetobacter activity, Merobact SM 1.5 offers broadened MDR gram-negative coverage as a stewardship-aligned reserve option for culture-guided or strongly suspected resistant infections.

Indications

Serious hospital-acquired and multidrug-resistant (MDR) gram-negative infections which can include intra-abdominal, respiratory (including ventilator-associated pneumonia), urinary tract, skin/soft-tissue, and bloodstream infections.
Empiric therapy in febrile neutropenia or suspected sepsis where MDR organisms (including Acinetobacter species) are a clinical concern.
Reserve-line therapy guided by culture and sensitivity reports, in line with antimicrobial stewardship principles.
